Vacation Summer-Cape Cod

For vacation number two we went to New Seabury (Mashpee) on Cape Cod. For this vacation we joined my parents (and their dog, Scarlett, who Hunter absolutely adores–and Scarlett has mutual feelings for Hunter… when he has food in his hands!) and our good family friends. My sister, her fiancé, and her best friend from college also joined us for a couple days mid-week, so we had a full house! The house was great–it had a pool out back and was walking distance (there’s that key word again) from a small semi-private beach. We spent most of our days by the…

Vacation Summer – Newport, RI

I can’t believe it’s officially fall! Although the weather is feeling a little more like summer this week and I’m okay with it. I enjoy the fall weather, but I am NOT looking forward to winter, so a few more warmer days are welcome here! The change in seasons is making me reflect on our summer though. We had a pretty great summer and took three different vacations! We stayed fairly local, but it was nice to get away nonetheless. We used Homeaway to research, find, and book all our vacation homes. I find it very easy to use and between doing…

Two Week Honeymoon Itinerary in Hawaii – Part 3

Capt Andy's Dinner Sunset Sail

Full day break downs – Part 3 Day 8 – Monday- Kauai After landing in Kauai and grabbing our rental car, we checked into out hotel Kauai Beach Resort . In Kauai we decided to stay in one hotel and use this as our home base instead of bouncing around from place to place. The hotel we chose had a lot of nice amenities including multiple pools, a hot tub, and a fire pit. The first night we arrived we grabbed dinner and read a book around the fire pit to relax. Day 9 – Tuesday- Kauai Day 9 was all about exploring the island…

Two Week Honeymoon Itinerary in Hawaii – Part 2

Full day break downs – Part 2 Day 6 – Saturday – Maui On day 6 we started down the road to Hana also known as the Hana Highway. The description of the road itself might grab your attention. The road is over 60 miles long connecting Kahului with the town of Hana. The journey takes about 2.5 hours to drive when no stops are made due to the very winding  nature of the road and many narrow bridges and passes. The road has over 59 bridges, 46 of which are only one lane wide. At this point you might be asking what is so special…

Two week Honeymoon Itinerary in Hawaii – Part 1

Honolulu Zoo

Full day break downs-Part 1 Day 1 – Monday – Oʻahu After checking into the hotel, we walked down to beach And then to dinner  at Hau Tree Lanai Restaurant where we got to eat under a nice tree alongside the beach during sunset. After dinner we went back to our room and went to bed. We wanted an early start the next day and after a long plane ride we were pretty wiped out at this point. Day 2 – Tuesday- Oʻahu Excited to start our first full day in Hawaii! After breakfast, we went straight to the zoo (a zoo…

Two Week Honeymoon Itinerary in Hawaii – Overview

So this blog post is way overdue. My wife and I got married almost two years ago and chose to go to Hawaii for our honeymoon. We spent a lot of time planning the trip and it was one of the most memorable trips we have ever had, so I wanted to share our experience.  We generally planned one thing to do each day (some days were travel), but then we left ourselves plenty of time to explore and do our own thing. I recommend you do the same. I will say this now, we intended to see Pearl Harbor at the…

Buongiorno a Tutti!

We’re back! We’ve been MIA on BloomingtoBooming because Sam and I took a two week trip to Italy! We traveled from Rome to Florence to the Cinque Terre to Venice and finally to Milan with some quick stops to other towns in between. All while living out of our backpacks and walking or taking public transportation everywhere! In short, it was an amazing trip. Beautiful sites, delicious food, and wonderful culture and experiences. Sam and I can’t wait to share our experiences with everyone over the next few weeks (with lots of pictures)!

Weekend in the Catskills

Recently we decided it was time to get away from reality for a couple of days! Memorial Day was coming up, so we were totally game for taking advantage of the three day weekend. We Googled “best weekend trips from Boston” and researched (okay mostly Jen did the research) our options and decided on the Catskills in New York. This ended up being about a four-hour drive from Boston. We wanted to take advantage of the entire weekend, so we left late after work on Friday and made our way to the Roxbury Inn Motel–our relaxing home away from home…
